Sailing Lessons

The IVY Club is excited to offer sailing classes for youth and adults – which are open to non-members. Sailing lessons made possible due to the generosity of the IVY Boating Foundation and certified instructors who volunteer their time and knowledge.

Since 2002, the Illinois Valley Yacht Club has been teaching children and adults how to sail. The course provides the opportunity for kids and adults to develop the skills and confidence necessary to enjoy the sport of sailing.

Beginning instruction covers basic boat handling, safety, knot tying, terminology, self-rescue and introduction to racing.
Sailors will be grouped by experience and abilities. The IVY Club will provide life jackets and boats. Sailors must wear closed toe beach shoes in the water.
